Happy New Year 2010

The Global Biosecurity 2010 conference is shaping up to be a very successful event. At the time of writing we have over 350 registrants from across the sectors and around the world. If you have not yet registered I encourage to register for this inaugural conference.

The re-bid process continues. The taskforce met yesterday (20 January) to progress planning and the outcomes of the meeting were very positive. An information paper covering the outcomes of the meeting will be posted early next week. Over the coming weeks I will be having discussions with a number of potential participants that will assist in shaping a successful bid.

The deadline for submission of the re-bid is 2 July 2010. This will require the considerable effort of many individuals to ensure we submit a proposal that has a high probability of being supported. I encourage you to contribute to the process by identifying areas of research that are new and innovative and have the capacity to improve the Australian biosecurity system.

  1. Excellent news, Simon. Does this mean we will definitiely be going for Round 13 this year, and not waiting for the next round? Cheers, Ian Falk

  3. The re-bid is all go, for sure! The international work is shaping up very well from the 'regional' perspective with a highly successful workshop in Lombok, Indonesia this week where key participants agreed on various letters of agreement to cement future cooperative arrangements. More to come shortly with John Lovett's visit to various spots in Asia to listen, learn, talk and sign partners... Cheers. Ian Falk
